Production
  • In 2007 compared to 2003 production of the canning industry in Bulgaria is 64% higher and as to 2006 - by 18%.
  • According to preliminary data, sales of the companies in the subsector in 2008 increased by 3.8% over the previous year
Trade Balance
  • Bulgaria's balance of foreign trade in processed and canned fruits and vegetables continues to be positive, but compared to 2003 is 3.7 times lower, and compared to 2007 - nearly 2 times lower.
Import
  • Import of processed and canned fruits and vegetables continue to rise in 2008 and compared to 2003 it has increased 3.1 times, and to 2007 - by 9.8%.
Export
  • In 2008 the trend of increase in exports of canned and processed fruits and vegetables continued. Compared to 2003 the increase is 22.7% and to 2007 - by 7.1%.
Domestic Market Sales
  • More juice, tomato puree, sterilized vegetables, preserved with vinegar vegetables and jam have been provided for sales on the domestic market in 2008 compared to 2007. Less are the provided stewed fruit and frozen vegetables.
