Bulgarian Canning Industry'2007
Summary
Production
- In 2007 there is an increase of the production in the canning industry in Bulgaria. The incomes from sale of production, goods and services of the companies from the sub-sector increased by 22.3% compared to 2006.
- There is an increase in the production of stewed fruits, marmalades, jams, orange juice. Less are the produced quantities of tomato puree, frozen fruits and vegetables, canned with vinegar or acetic acid.
Trade balance
- The trade balance from trade in processed and canned fruits and vegetables is positive with a negative trend. Compared to 2006, the decrease in 2007 is by EUR 33.4 mln. or by 57%.
Import
- The trend of increase of the import of processed and canned fruits and vegetables continued in 2007 as well. Compared to 2002 import is bigger by 91 thous. tons or 3.6 times. Compared to 2006 the increase is by 56.3 thous. tons or by 80%.
Export
- The trend of increase of the export continues. Compared to 2002 the increase is by 38.2 thous. tons or 57% and compared to 2006 – by 11.3 thous. tons or 12%.
- The average price of the exported processed and canned fruits and vegetables in 2007 compared to 2002 is higher by 16.2%. Compared to 2006 the average price is lower by 1.7%.
Domestic market sales
- The provided quantities of canned vegetables, tomatoes puree, jams for sales on the domestic market are bigger compared to 2006. Less are the provided quantities of frozen fruits and vegetables, juices and stewed fruits.
